Built on a land owned by the William W. Boardman family since 1881, the Inn first opened its doors to travelers in 1900. The hotel was operated by George W. Boardman, who also served as chief of the Lee fire department from 1913 to 1923. When George died in 1930, he left the property to his housekeeper, Ella Mead Fillio. In 1947, Bernard Morris bought the hostelry from Arthur Davis, who had operated the Inn for three years. Mr. Morris ran the Inn for nearly fifty years, the last several with the help of his wife, Jean. During those years, many features were added to the property including a tennis court, and our legendary music room which features over 1,000 classical records.
The present owner, Tom Fusco, bought the Inn in 1996. While careful to maintain the Inn’s traditional charm, some renovations have been made, including the addition of a deck that overlooks the Inn’s private beach. The Inn is now a four-season resort that offers both modern conveniences and turn-of-the-century charm.
